BBC INCREASES WORLD CHAMPS COVERAGE:wave:

The BBC has confirmed further coverage of the IPC World Swimming Championships which kick off this Saturday (2 December) and run to the 7 December in Durban.

Digital viewers in the UK can watch live coverage of the action as part of the BBC’s interactive service. Coverage is scheduled from 3-5pm on Sunday 3 December and from 3-4.30pm on Thursday 7 December (both UK time).

Each day, a five-minute highlights programme will be available to view online on the BBC disability sport pages. The Championships will also feature as part of a larger swimming package (including footage from the European Short Course Championships) on BBC Grandstand on Sunday 10 December.

An event preview featuring National Performance Director Tim Reddish and British swimmer Matthew Whorwood will be broadcast on BBC Radio 5 on Thursday 30 November between 9.30pm and 10pm.

It would be interesting to find out what the viewing figures for this are.

Yes but how well is the interactive service advertised. There is nothing in the TV listings mag I buy.
It will tells you whats on at the BBC sport website but how many look at that.
They may tell you about it on Grandstand but if there is nothing of interest to you would you be watching to hear about it.
Don't know how they would do it but the interactive services need much more advertising

  I understand what you are saying Lane 4 as it makes me cross  when all swimming seems to get is token coverage but if we keep chipping away then people will sit up and watch. I know all the football fans viewing needs are met but or young sport hopefuls need to see that football, rugby, cricket and snooker are not the only sport that makes the world go round. I am thankful to the beeb and sky for promoting disability sport as much as possible.
It does make me cross:devil: though with the lack of advertising and will be letting them know as they do like to hear our comments so I would recommend as many individuals who feel they need to let the BBC and Sky know how they feel about advertising these events to let them know!! What would we do without the internet?
I guess I am doing my bit by putting it into this forum so that the swimming population will be able to see it as well. :flash:

The obvious answer to me, as I suggested in another thread, is for them to give them proper channel names like BBC5, BBC6, BBC7 then they can be included in the listings. From a technical perspective, that is all they are, extra channels, they take up exactly the same bandwidth on the broadcast as all the other channels and can be directly accessed (on Freeview at least) as channels 301, 302, 303.

E.g. right now on 302 they have Snow Patrol live in Belfast. If I'd wanted to watch it, how would I have known it was going to be on?! I've just gone to the BBC web site and can't see any way to find out what is going to be shown on those 3 channels.

Perhaps we could all complain to them about this issue: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/make_complaint_step1.shtml
