Just thought that I'd congratulate those Guernsey swimmers who have been selected for the Games:
Ian Powell - Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club
Gail Strobridge - Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club
Ben Lowndes - Guernsey Swimming Club
We also have 3 other swimmers who have been given extra time to reach the necessary qualifying standard:
Jonathon Le Noury - Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club
John Tomlin - Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club / Bedford Modernians (I think)
Sean Rowe-Hagans - Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club / some club in Brisbane, Australia
Congrats to all these swimmers (particularly considering the average age of those already selected - Ian/Gail/Ben - is only 16!!!)

Well done to these guys too!
Chris, can you let us know what events they will be doing and what their times are?

OK.
I am not 100% sure of the events they'll be competing in (I think our policy is for them to qualify for something, and then they can virtually compete in any event they like) but I'm pretty sure the events they qualified for are:
Ian Powell - 50/100/200 backstroke (28 something/59.22 or maybe quicker now/2:03)
Gail Strobridge - 200/400 I.M and maybe more (2:23/5:02)
Ben Lowndes - 200 Fly (2:05)
All these times are short course.

Congratulations to all the swimmers who have been selected to represent their country/island. If they perform pbs then they have done thier best,
Are Jersey and the IOM sending teams?
Does anyone know their teams?
The only IOM competitor I know of is Adam Richards, although last time I saw him, he had bulked up.

Taken from Isle of Man Swimming Association (http://www.iomsa.org.im) website:
Selection of the Commonwealth Games team to represent the Isle of Man in Manchester this year has resulted in a team of six swimmers making the trip.
Already pre-selected were David Batty, Dane Harrop, Alan Jones and Ian Sharp. David, Dane and Alan all competed in Kuala Lumpur four years ago, while Ian, a very successful competitor for Great Britain at the Paralympics has been selected in the S12 classification.
In addition, two other swimmers have now been added to the list. They are Adam Richards and Emily Crookall-Nixon. Adam, a former British National age group champion, will be representing the Isle of Man at this level for the first time. Emily, who lives in Cockermouth, was a member of the Manx team four years ago.
They will be accompanied by Team Manager and coach, Kay Batty.
Our congratulations and best wishes go to them all.

Jersey selected Simon & Alexi Militis, Natalie Bree and Emma Hurst, pending Nationals results, so as Simon has been selected in the England squad he will be swimming for them not Jersey.

Well then while we're congratulating people, I think Karen Nesbit deserves a shout out for being selected for Scotland. Why? Because the Isle of Britain is an island, and Scotland is on this island, so I fit into this category. :p

He certainly does swim for Modernians, and was at the Midland District Masters Champs at the weekend. I know this because he beat me comfortably into silver in the 100 back - my best (i.e. still quite slim..;) ) chance of a gold  - even though it was the event straight after the 200 fly and was only about 15mins later!
His 200 fly looked pretty good though. What are the QT's he has to make? I think he swam around 2:11

John's me best buddy!!!
He had to go 2:08/2:07 (whatever the senior national qualifying time was)
He is a member of these forums - although he doesn't come here as often as he should

And the pain I felt down that second 50 was incredible, first 100 Backstroke for years and not a bad effort I thought, I'll be back to a 63 some time, just you watch.
Many apologies for my lack of activity on this site (much improved, mind) something to do with having a busy life, what with work, training (something you avoid Chris), and of course saving the pennies to buy a house and for the forthcoming arrival, I predict a week early!
Thanks for the kind words regarding my 200 Fly Steve, that was painful too.
Christopher you forgot to mention Jonny Le Noury he has also been accepted to swim at the Commonwealth Games, for Guernsey!
