View Full Version : Using the pill during extended competition
A friend of mine is going to the Commonwealth Games and has decided to go on the pill to control her periods. However she is worried that it might affect her performance at the Games.
Does anyone know if it will have any effect on her performance and if so, in what way?
Sorry, I thought this topic might scare some of you men out there!! :p
Coaches have to deal with ladies topics quite often. Consulting a GP is a better bet. Not sure there has been any study of it in swimming.
The GP is not sure how it will affect her performance, there have never been any studies into it but she has heard it does cause swimmers problems from other swimmers.
I guess she'll just have to wait and see

Is there a team doctor, with experience in both fields??
Not in Guernsey I don' think.
I suppose going on it early (i.e Now) so that she has time before the Games to get used to it, and can see if there are any changes in her performance during the couple of galas she has left. Shes only young so older swimmers may not have found it a problem but as she is still growing she might. :)
