They still make Peugeots? They stopped selling those here in like 1988, after miserable sales. I'd show you my car, but it is dirty at the moment. Here's a question that has always peaked my curiosity....Why do the British and Aussies drive on the left side of the road while everyone rides on the right? And do you trains and subways run on the left? And what happens when you go through the Chunnel, and cross over to France, how do the trains get on the righthand side of the road?

Yes, and have just purchased a brand new 406 diesel estate. My salon is not big enough to carry 3 resus annies, woggles and 20 kick boards. I'll give you a run for your money with your 206 Chris, next time your are on the M27. :copper:

In Europe, trains use railway tracks not roads!

Thank you lane 4. We do have railways over here too. My question, smarta$$ is do the trains run on the left side or the right, and what happens when you cross over to France through the Chunnel.

About a quarter of the world drives on the left, and the countries that do are mostly old British colonies. Japan also drive on the left. This strange quirk perplexes the rest of the world; however, there is a perfectly good reason.
Up to the late 1700's, everybody travelled on the left side of the road because it's the sensible option for feudal, violent societies of mostly right-handed people.
Jousting knights with their lances under their right arm naturally passed on each other's right, and if you passed a stranger on the road you walked on the left to ensure that your protective sword arm was between yourself and him.
Revolutionary France, however, overturned this practice as part of its sweeping social rethink. A change was carried out all over continental Europe by Napoleon. The reason it changed under Napoleon was because he was left handed his armies had to march on the right so he could keep his sword arm between him and any opponent.
From then on, any part of the world which was at some time part of the British Empire was thus left hand and any part colonised by the French was right hand.
In America, the French colonised the southern states (Louisiana for instance) and the Canadian east coast (Quebec). The Dutch colonised New York (or New Amsterdam). The Spanish and Portugese colonised the southern Americas. So The British were a minority in shaping the 'traffic'.
The drive-on-the-right policy was adopted by the USA, which was anxious to cast off all remaining links with its British colonial past.
Today, the EC would like Britain to fall into line with the rest of Europe, but this is no longer possible. It would cost billions of pounds to change everything round.

Sounds like someone does not understand "off topic"! This section is not about swimming necessarily. It is where you get to know fellow members of the site. Lane 4 can post what he likes here, saving him posting non-swimming topics elsewhere. So can you! :D

Getting back to the subject at hand. Thought I'd show off my car to you all. Look closely and you see me, the kids and some dame in the background. She didn't catch the ball as I recall. Her nose never was quite the same after  http://www.brochures.fsnet.co.uk/robin.jpg

Why? No I think I'll stick with black or silver but I think having seats that were lime green/black or yellow/black would look pretty sound. :)

I would be glad of just any car right now. My 18 year old put mine into a ditch at 1.00 am Sunday morning! Gone to be repaired but in the meantime no wheels. Getting daughter to training is fun... no buses, no-one else from my village, 16 miles to the pool each way.

I've been relying on others within the squad who travel from even further away and pass within a mile or so to pick her up. So far so good, but no car for about 2 weeks will cost me lots of boxes of chocs to say thank you in return.
