Looks like lane4 and PP's clubs are well represented.
On relay takeovers is there a coaching preference for swimmers adopting Grab, Track-start, or wind-up for dives and why?

Yes all 6 teams through, which was nice to see.
Re takeovers, I encourage my guys to do the two step with full 360 arm swing wind-up technique - quite simply because when done effectively it generates more momentum when leaving the blocks than any other method. Anyone who does a regular track or grab start for a relay takeover is gifting time to their opposition.

That makes sense in that the swimmer on the block is not in that perfectly still position awaiting the off as at the start of an individual race.
As the returning swimmer reaches the pad the next swimmer is ideally already moving though not leaving the block and he uses that inertia to gain the quickest release.

The answer depends entirely on what you determine to be success to you.
For me personally- just to get in the water these days would make me successful.
My daughter would say she was successful if she gained an NQT this year- sadly she didn't so sees herself as somewhat of a failure!
For my most swimmers going to Nationals a PB would make them successful. For those close to the top - maing a final would make them successful and for those VERY close to the top medalling would I think be their goal.
IMHO It's a matter of personal goals-xx

PMA = positive mental attitude. Don't let anyone intimidate you. They were/are in exactly the same situation. Some more experienced, others not! GO FOR IT.... Only you can. Good luck and all the best. Well done for even getting there.

Hard work, good nutrition, self belief and a good coach, coupled with a wee bit of luck to stay injury and illness free.:clear:

Totally agree. Check out the book "Who moved my chesse?" or visit whomovedmycheese.com for a great book on deciding what your true goals are and what to do if they change.

Agreed, and my swimmers goals which I help them set, will be based on the rule "you are only as good as your last swim".
This means that only achieving a pb, is not a goal!
MY swimmers will soon begin their taper, and mental attitude as already mentioned will also be trained and finely tuned.
I will also be working on my contingency plan, in the event that I have got things wrong and they don't improve on their last swim.
