The selection of pools that I'm familiar with is quite small. But among pools that I've swum in over the last year, my favourite has to be Cossington St. Pool. Originally opened in 1897, at the time it was, I've read, the largest municipal pool in the country. Today at 33m long, it's clearly smaller than many, but bigger than any other indoor pool I know of in Leicester.

However from next weekend the open air Lido at Hood Park leisure centre will be open. So it's entirely feasible that I may be posting here again.

I like the look of the pool. Like most swimming baths (pools) built in the late 19th early 20th century it oozes character. It is a great shame that so many of them have been lost or modernised to such a degree that they have lost their character. Had a quick google but was unable to find anymore pics of the pool. Would love to see more if anyone has any to post (old or new)

I like the proper steps, rather than a ladder. Though I nearly bumped into them a few times. Also after my first length, I alighted on the steps, then walked off towards the wall. Forgetting the extreme likelihood that if the other end was shallow, this end is ...

Edit: It doesn't look so good from outside.
