Must say Hy-Tek Electronic Entry system needs looking at having to download Team Manager Lite is a Joke. It's OK if your clubs using Team Manager if not a 5 Minute job using SportSystems Electronic Entry is a 30 Minute job with Hy-Tek
Any Comments

I did struggle a bit the first time I used TM Lite - but once it is done, and all swimmers' details entered, then subsequent entries are a doddle - much quicker than Sportsys. Don't know how you can do Sportsys entries in 5 minutes - I often have 50 swimmers to enter for a meet and it takes a lot longer than that, plus the printouts to check are not the easiest to use.

I disagree, Hy-Tek is so much better than SportSystems. Once you have your swimmers details and PBs in Hy-Tek, it is just the click of a button to enter them for the meet. None of this manual entry of names, dob, registration and times.

Sorry I disagree there is no way we enter PB's into Hy-Tek we don't need to maintain to Databases.
It’s fine if your club uses Team Manager to keep track of your swimmers details.
Hertfordshire Masters Meet entries can only be done using Hy-Tek this means we have to add the masters swimmers onto TM.

You're right swimstore - if you use Hy-Tek it's probably easy, but if you don't and you want to enter a meet, it is so much more time-consuming than the old style paper entry. I can only assume it is done to save time for those running the meet?

I can't understand why using TM can be deemed worse than SportSystems even if you have to enter your swimmers details into TM ? Once you have them in Hy-Tek then you can use them for the next meet. Hy-Tek clearly indicates which swimmers are eligible for the meet with respect to age and who comply with the entry/consideration times if you have their PBs in the system. Do you still use floppy disks with SportSystems ?
The majority of meets in SASA North District and the major national events in Scotland are now being run using Hy-Tek Meet Manager. I have ran a meet with MM and it was very straight-forward to use. Can't comment or compare with SS.
Our club is using TM for meet entries and PB recording/reporting. We have another database for swimmers membership details.

We use TM Lite and do not store pbs - but it is still a lot faster to enter swimmers for meets on TM than on Sportsys. Also TM can cope properly with double-barrelled surnames!

I haven't used Hy-Tek, but if downloading TM from the Hytek site solves even some of the problems of distirbting the Sportsystems entry package that I go through every time we have a meet then it must be a better solution.
The number of people who cannot open a zip file, whose email wont accept .exe files even with teh extension changed, or whose IT department stop them from downloading self extracting zips from the web is incredible and now means I have to send out a huge list of instructions with it (also because the online help is hopeless) and often have to sned it three of four times to get it through. Plus there is then the rigmarole of getting people to send back the right files which is also a nightmare.
It really needs redoing to take into account that no-one uses floppies anymore.

Can't understand the complaints re hy-tek. Having used both ss and hy-tek for both entries and running meets then hy-tek wins both times, easy to use for entering and running of meets and the info you can pull off relating to swimmers times etc is second to none. Only down side is that alot of hy-tek is still USA swimming orientated, it would be good to have the same possibilities in hy-tek but related to swimming in UK. This said you really have to commit fully to hy-tek to reap the rewards it offers
