I seem to remember fears expressed here that the pool at Aldershot wouldn't cope with the numbers likely to want to watch the meet - I confess I shared them. Pleased to say they were unfounded and Guildford (not my club or even county, I hasten to add) ran an excellent meet there Friday-Saturday.
Thanks GCSC.
For those planning to attend future meets there - the pool management are hard on outdoor shoes on poolside and issue polythene overshoes for those sitting in the front row of the seats (spectators on nearside as you enter, swimmers mostly opposite), where your feet are at deck level. Spectators also have to sign in as well as paying admission, and skipping on poolside seems to be banned.

How's the building though? I heard they had shut the pool for the last three weeks due to problems with subsidence or something...

No sign of anything untoward at all. Apparently it was available for training during the week leading up to the meet.

yeh it is open, and yeh skipping is banned even during training sessions which is so incredibly ANNOYING! one prob with galas there is theres no swim down pool :( and with no skipping its hard to cool down properly :( also the atmosphere was SOOOO hot! apart from that it was good.

I thought the meet was ok. I know it ran on for a while and it was tough without a swim down pool, but I really liked racing in the pool and I thought the club did pretty well considering its the first major open meet held there (I think!).

Well we were skipping at the no frills meet last weekend. Nobody said anything, they just kept asking us to take our shoes off. Obviously well planned to hold a meet at a pool where you're not allowed to wear shoes...

Must depend who's on duty. As they said it was banned at the meet two weeks ago I asked the pool staff on Saturday if I should announce that swimmers shouldn't skip and they said it was okay!
