I certainly haven't done any counting to check for sure, but from quickly glancing over the programme, is it me, or does there seem to be less total swimmers in the Age meet this year than previously, and is the general overall standard of the top few in each age not as high as before? It was just a feeling I got from having a quick look, I could easily be wrong.

As RCP said- you are never wrong (well hardly ever anyway!)
I too just took a very quick look and thought exactly the same thing- about the Youth champs too.
IMHO (for what it's worth - nowt) I think the short course times were too hard to get and I also think that incorporating the British Champs in with the Youth champs is derisory to most of the Youth swimmers.

Yes but think of the money they are saving 2 championships for the price of 1, which means more money being re-invested in the 2012 Olympic program.

Once again we see glaring differences between the number of entries for different strokes.
Girls
100 free 115
100 back 101
100 fly 59
100 breast 55
200 free 134
200 back 101
200 fly 65
200 breast 62
I know this is going over pretty old ground, but it does get a little tiresome, when you get some swimmers ranked much higher nationally not qualifying because 'their' stroke is breast (or perhaps fly....don't know much about it). Daughter's pretty resigned to it, although when your best stroke is breaststroke, it's more than a little annoying! (Not that she was anywhere near this year!)

Perhaps some have chosen not to enter the Age Group Champs?
I noticed that the incredibly talented Jessica Thielmann hasn't entered at all, and from what I saw, has only entered one event at the BLC Champs.
Just twigged.........Jessica, Sara Lougher and Sophie Ward are at the EYOF during the AG Champs.

With regard to standard in the Age Group Championship's, have only looked at my son's age group (he didn't make it) and not looked at previous years but would say the quality is still there.
I may be wrong but amongst the 14 year old boys there are several who have broken a number of 13 and 14 year British Age Group records in the last few months, ie David Gregory, Matthew Parks, Matthew Verdon and Myles Crouch-Anderson.
