Any members of this forum coming to Glasgow for the Super Grand Prix next weekend?

Yep I am coming along for sure. Looking at the draft programme that was sent out the entries are pretty low - heats at about an hour and a half (or less?).

Mark Foster has entered for the 200 free and 100 Back on friday - looks like he only entered cos he had to (to fulfil English Commie Games team requirements).....so I guess he`ll be a no-show.

Getting towards the last chance saloon for would-be Scottish team members............anyone got any predictions for last gasp place getters?

Can't see anyone else making it individually now but maybe Louise Coull could still grab an individual berth (she has the ability to). Kerry Martin is in a similar position. It might be interesting to see if anyone else goes for the mens 200 IM? Carry and Cole already have a place but Edmond, Leith and Tait might all fancy their chances of being able to do the time, although none of them are scheduled to swim it next week. However Tait did do the time earlier in the year at a non-qualifying meet. Or perhaps they won't have to do the time and just get to swim it at the meet anyway, given that they are already on the squad? Brad Hay should also be aiming to make the team but hasn't quite hit top form yet so far this season. Wonder who he will be supporting in the World Cup, England or Scotland? Oh sorry, Scotland never made it through to the finals. Nevermind, he's English anyway.

 :D

Yes the 200 IM time a possible target -especially for Leith as he is yet to make an Individual time. The 4x200 men a possibilty if some/all of Smith, Leith, Carry and the so far non-selected Hay can drop some time.

A World Cup Loyalty Test?......hmmmmm interesting concept?

Edmond and Cooper could both be added into the 4 x 2 mix comes Games time? Edmond is Scottish record holder for the event short course after all.

They could certainly be in with a very good chance of beating England on this event.

If Scotland were to beat England on ANY of the relays (except from due to a DQ) it would be a disaster of huge proportions for English swimming and highlight just one example of the exciting development Scottish swimming is making and the disctint lack of progress (or even maybe the extent of regress?) of swimming in England.

Certainly the England 4x200 team has gome downhill rapidly. At Sydney GB was represented by 4 Englishmen who performed (in my opinion) magnificently. The best time 4 Englishmen could muster now, a mere 2 years later, is probably about 6-10 seconds slower!
