This is my pool, it's 50m x 26m (10 lanes) x 2,5m. It's flawless, I love it:

Looks great but there is one flaw to me. 26m wide. If it were 25m it could be used as a short course training pool that way round, like Sheffield. This is where people say the Sheffield pool is not 25m wide.
I was working in M.E.T.U in Ankara last year, and may be back there soon.
Are there any swimming facilities on site ?

METU has two swimming pools. One 50m (open) and one 25m. They are probably one of the oldest pools in Ankara. I really don't like being there. Not so clean, no lane order, sessions are short, not so clean and not so clean...
But there are lots of great pools here in Ankara. My favorite one is TOBB, it's a 50m pool and was built just a few months ago. And there is Gazi Üniversitesi pool which also good... The Sabanci Pool, 25m, is really clean. Finally my lovely pool Ankara Üniversitesi, 50m, is very good. There are a few nice sports club pools too but you have to pay a lot to use them. If you don't like METU pools you can use the others. Public transportation is no problem in Ankara. Longest distance, which happens to be METU, from town center takes 30 minutes.

Looks beautifull.
I prefer a short pool because i have such strong tumble turns. They give me 2 meters on most people, more if they dont tumble at all.
Sadly our pool is being knocked down and replaced with a 50 meter one. I will have to learn to swim and not rely on my turns so much by the time its built :(

Cagri, do you know about pools in Istanbul? as I might be there in July.

I know a few nice pools over there:
Fenerbahçe has three pools - 50m (open), 20m, 25m
Galatasaray has one 50m
ENKA has one 50m - I think they are building a new 25m, maybe it's finished.
İstanbul Yüzme İhtisas has one 20m (or 25m?)
Burhan Felek Spor Tesisleri - 25m (maybe 50m)
If you're going to İstanbul in July, you should join the "Asia to Europe" marathon. It's so much fun and it's not challenging at all. Anyone could swim!

It's not a running "marathon", it's a swimming marathon? I think you don't call that a marathon? Oh well!
Or are you afraid to swim long distance :)

He said, "you should join the "Asia to Europe" marathon.
Asia to Europe sounds like a pretty long distance to me. Be careful what you are signing up to, MJC.

We also have a "Turkey to Greece" marathon :) It's so much fun and you get to stay in Greece one night!
The article you sent is another Asia to Europe marathon. It's in Dardanelles and it's 10 kilometers. There are too many jelly fished in that route, scares me a little :) The one I'm talking about is only 6,5 kilometers but we have strong tide, so it takes like 60 minutes for me to swim. Record is only 36 minutes! Don't listen to JL :) This year it will be on the 20th of July (my birthday!)

We have just come back from 5 days in Istanbul. It is totally incongruous that we should have 8in of snow but thats how it was - much as Cagri predicted I recall....
It is a fantastic place, the Grand Bazaar is amazing.
Too polluted to swim apparently, but surely warrents anothe trip
