Does anyone know if this is finished yet? I heard they were building a new sports complex with a 25M pool. Also where is it, in relation to the Uni (Parkinson Building)?

It's still early days for this project. Leeds City Council have only just agreed to part-fund it.

Cheers JL. Thought it could be another good training option, guess I'll have to wait!

The beauty of this pool for you, MJC, is that Leeds City Council have written in a condition, in return for part-funding the project. The pool must be available to the public for a minimum of 42 hours per week.

Who knows how JL gathers so much information.
I for one have a suspicion that JL has got something to do with slurp spiders.

They are the most vicious and deadliest breed of spider known to man, and extremely noisey when sucking blood and stuff from your body ;)

Is that 42 lane hours or total pool time hours, and is there a condition as to what time during the day it will be available?

Not sure, Spidey. This is what was sent through...
The council approved a contribution of up to £1.5m towards the £9.7m project to ensure that the pool is open to the public for at least 42 hours per week. They will also have access to the fitness suite and the health suite and sauna. The University will work with local schools, community groups and the council’s swimming development team to make sure the new pool is accessible for all.
The state-of-the-art facility will be built next to the current sports centre on campus and will be open seven days a week. It will feature an eight-lane, 25m heated pool. The pool will have a moveable floor that can be lowered in 15 seconds to a depth of up to 2m, suiting a wide range of activities including water polo, learner swimmer classes, and sub-aqua training.
The first floor of the building will boast a fitness suite with 200 machines, overlooking the pool. At ground level there will be a health suite with sauna and steam room, a small café, spectator seats and changing rooms.
Leader of Leeds City Council, Andrew Carter, said: “We have kept our pledge to secure city centre swimming and gym facilities for the people of Leeds at affordable prices."

Wow, sounds really good. I didn't know about any of this and I live right near there. It will give Leeds Met sports facilities at Carnegie a jolt!

Not a 50m pool? That's a shame.
