Scottish National Open & Age Group Championships start next week in Glasgow at Toll Cross. The meet runs 6 days (mirroring Commy Games programme for seniors) from Tuesday to Sunday.
Its the last gasp chance to make a late bid for a Scottish Commy Games berth but anyone likely to make it already seems to have done so now. Or do you think there are any other possibles?
The draft programme suggests the open events are very scarce on entries and depth but that the age group events will be quite competitive. Scotland has been quietly producing some very classy age group swimmers over the past couple of years (e.g. Mark Branch now a British Junior record holder) and we should see next week how Mark et al are getting on and whether any new potential future stars are coming through?
It will also be particularly interesting to see how the likes of City of Aberdeen, City of Glasgow and Stirling get on following the change of coaching staff they have had in recent months.
