Never had any, never will have any, except masters of course where the qualifying standards are about the ability to read and complete an entry form and attach the correct fee!

Is that a requirement? Not all masters are able to do all of these... At times it seems most don't read the form :D

Chris,
I know how you feel, my birthday is also 29th December used to have the same problem! :banghead: :banghead: The kids don't know how lucky they are now with age on the day. Yet you still get them complaining if a meet lands the weekend after their birthday. You can't win :) :)

Next years Nationals....erm going for 50m and 100m free.
About age on day, I hardly get to think about it. At the end of the day it doesn't really bother me too much...

You don't think you benefit but just think about it for a second, all the swimmers you are swimming against are exactally the same age. When Chris and I were swam in a competition in say Jan, Feb or March. We would have to swim say in the 16/17 age group when we were only just turned 15!! and no where near our 16th birthday. At least now that sort of situation is removed.
Anyway i think we've lost the purpose of this thread now, sorry. :)

Most of our lot will be there, so you might see a few swimclub people. Look out for H2o and possibly ruthcp. I won't be as my small swimmer is too small for competitions.

That won't stop his dad yelling at the top of his lungs when Marco gets in the pond. And if Marco's the next fastest after you, stay a little bit closer to him and see if you can sneak a few extra tenths off your time.

im the next fastest after him. there is 4seconds over 100 and 5 over 200 so it might be a bit hard to stay with him.

Nah, no worries, T10. Stick with him as long as you can and just imagine that everyone yelling is yelling for you.

Nah, I meant you should imagine that everyone, not just your own supporters, is yelling for you. So when you hear Big Paddy hollering at his wee boy to "GO!!! MOVE!!! KICK!!!" or whatever he can think of to yell, imagine he's yelling it at you, that everyone is cheering for you. Another bit of that psychological stuff, might be worth a go.
If you go in there thinking "oh he'll beat me again, he's miles faster, I won't get near him, I don't have a chance", then that's pretty likely what'll happen. If you go there thinking "I'm really going to give him a race for this one - if he wants it he's going to have to really work for it!" then it might give you that extra boost to get that NQT you're after and it'll give Marco something to think about next time you race him.
