I'm in guernsey most years for the masters event, so maybe I will visit,
and I've seen Steve Buckley, both at the Waveney Otters masters, and turning up late for his swim at crystal palace
I'm a young and single 17

Hey not my fault the M11 was closed due to a jack-knifed HGV and the normal 1.5hr journey took 4.5hrs....
Besides it made no difference overall, I still swam a PB, despite swimming in heat 1 with some members of Age Group J :D
Oh and I'm a proper master now at the grand old age of 25

it doesn't mean you're not a swimmer; it's just a ranking think based on how many posts you do. after 10 it changes; then 50; 100; etc. after a while, you get olympic champion!! of course, you can always change it in your profile, but it's cool to see your "ranking" get better and better :D

In the US you can drive at 16, but can't drink (legally) til 21. Oh and thanks Emma. I turn 23 on the 6th and now you're making me feel old :(

If you go on the FINA website, go to the 'Records' link and click on 'Masters World Records', there is a guy called Tom Lane who did 50m and 100m free and 50m back in 1995. In the 100-104 years age group.
He went 2.02 for the back but only 2.06 for the free, and 4.32 for the 100. Longcourse he went 2.05 for 50m free and back, 4.25 for 100 free and 4.57 for 100 back.
For the women, an American called Mary Maina swam 50m free longcourse in 5.10.84 in 1994!

I can't feel old at 28. I was but now I'm refusing to. There is far too much life to be enjoyed. Age isn't even a mental thing, its an "other people's" preconceptions thing.
Tell me that when I get the next varicose vein ok. :)
