As wildy asks, where is this place, 7 days earlier I would have been in the sea for Christmas day.

Completely agree.

I am in Llangollen over Xmas and M/Cr for New Year and would really like to have a communal dip with some other like minded headcases.

Kate Rew of the Outdoor Swimming Society is compiling a list to go on the website I think of all the Xmas and New Year swims that she gets to hear about.

I have to go out now, but will put link on later:

She has left message on the Lidos Yahoo Group

Here's the link for the OSS

Let Kate know when and where your swims are and then people can meet up more easily, providing they are not behind the sofa....

Why can't you all arrange to swim at the same place?

Why can't you all arrange to swim at the same place?

And all get rounded up and put away somewhere for our own good??

Better to "spread out in a bunch" as a remarkable Irish rugby stalwart is quoted as having said...

Why can't you all arrange to swim at the same place?

'Cos it'll make things too easy for the nice young men in their clean white coats when "they're coming to take us away"...Hoho heehee hahaaa!

"They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa
To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be
happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!"

Why can't you all arrange to swim at the same place?

Because Xmas Day Dips are just that - people jump/run in and out of the pool/sea whilst onlookers clad in three duffle coats cheer them on. The whole swim is usually over in a few minutes and raises hundreds for good causes (spreading out in a bunch is a brilliant description)

Anyway - for those that do want to gather in one place, there is a chance to meet Lewis Gordon Pugh on Dec 9th at Parliament Hill Lido. Cost £10

Do you play in a band, Animal? I think the skill in drumming is amazing, but would never be able to do it myself. When the Stereophonics recorded their reprise version of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band for the Beatles 40th anniversary recording, the lead singer said it all came from the drums upwards.

Jesus Green Lido will be open on New Year's Day between 12 and 2pm for the first time; but they are charging a £10 entrance fee (if it's not a misprint in the article I read); it includes a hot drink!

Anyone live near there and can find out more?
