Well here we are less than 1 week to go, and yes I am getting excited. You notice the increased media coverage, lots of Sunday papers coverage, and even the John Smiths Bitter ad set in a diving comp. (made me laugh!).
I love the whole atmosphere of such Games - the opening ceremony chaos (theme usually indefinable), the parade of the two competitors from Country x, and most of the events.
I am looking forward to seeing the triathlon, marathon, plus diving (esp Peter Waterfield) and synchronised swimming ( having never seen it before).
I only realised today that the swimming is happening AFTER the athletics, etc. which has been moved forward due to imminent Euro Championships.
Imagine the focus that swimming is going to get!! Make the most of it everyone as we will not see such interest nationally for a long time if ever! Get the video tapes stocked and enjoy!

Yes I'm starting to get quite excited, and among the other sports I will follow, probably athletics will be the most. I'm not a huge fan, but it gets quite alot of coverage (especially at games like this where sports like football take a backseat :) ), and it is a performance sport after all, so you know how much respect they demand. Why is it there are always athletes failing drugs tests though? Two more BR holders in the last month. This after high profile cases like Christie, Richardson, Modahl, etc.:(
