I'm interested in this but have no need to pay a continual hosting fee.

Any plans to release the CMS as a script only?

Chris

The system is built in asp, so the hosting provider needs to be able to "run" asp pages, if your hosting company allows asp pages, then you can run SwimCMS.

You will need to pay (at the beginning) for a the acual system, which includes all updates.

For each swimming club, we create a unqiue design (theme), which suits logos, colour scheme etc.

Thanks Tom. What's the cost of the system only? (you can PM me if you like.)

Do you have any examples of sites live with this system at the moment?

How do you justify the £30/month charge? A quick search shows UK based web hosting available for as little as £2.50/month with limits that would be more than adequate for pretty much any club so where does the rest go? In fact, for £30/month I can get my own Virtual Private Server which would support many club sites.

And one final question - I would guess that features like squad management and personal times require storing personal data on the server. How do you manage the security and integrity of personal data on a shared server?

Sorry I thought of another :) Your main website specified fixed font sizes which means that you can't increase the size on IE6. Do you believe this is compliant with the DDA with regard to access for all?

I wonder if its based on one of the many free to use community portals with some modifications to accomodate swimming clubs. £30 a month is a lot of cash for a club to spend on a website..... IMO ;)

Wouldn't see us paying £30/month, there’s loads of free CMS systems out there that would work nicely for a swimming club and as Chris says web hosting is very cheap.

That’s nearly for £400 a year your asking for at the price you could get Sportcentric to do something.

Never really found a good ASP or .net CMS apart from DNN.

A £2.50 a month doesn't include the cms system, nor the domain. Most companies that offer cheap hosting are often based on Linux servers, and so cannot run asp pages, also they most do not offer database connections.
The £30 a month includes:
The CMS System
A unique Custom Built theme/template for your swimming club.
Hosting
Domain (www.yourswimmingclub.co.uk)
Emails etc.

The data is stored in a database which is password protected, the database is also ran (locally) from the dedicated windows 2003 server box.

Thank you for this, we are currently working on the problem.

Nope. The system is custom built, from scratch. If a swimming club wanted a web designer to design them a website which has the same features as swimcms does, it will cost the swimming club alot of money, even if the swimming club wanted a website with no interactive features, then you are still talking around the £400 mark.

Obviously if you're running linux, you're going to be running something better than asp, such as a lamp stack. I pay USD $5 /month for a linux VPS with apache, mysql, or anything else I care to run on it.

your CMS doesn't seem very robust...
