just a bit of feedback really....
havea possible solution to uploading results... not automateed ... allows people to enter their own times and results... got a few clubs on board now...

time issue? well, most clubs want results on their site - so can offer that too.

    how is yours coming along?

yeah, but what i mean is that we/you/i could use our own unique number to allow people to upload their own results....

Dont think it's possible to get automated results from most/all local/regional/national comps. unless with their permission.....
    hard one to crack.

the asa don't use DOB_name_etc anymore, and haven't for some time.

Everything is now using the unique number, and they changed for a very good reason.

that's a point yes. how are you getting around this.... although i hope you dont see me as 'competition'....

the asa id number could be easy to implement.. the long version is like DOB_name_etc...
    so could use that...

US system wouldn't be much help as 80% of meets don't use Hy-Tek and you wouldn't be able to get hold of the ASA ID for each swimmer. Your likely to end up with a lot of duplicates and unreliable data.

    all sounds good to me.
basically, same with me.... fully automated would be great - yes. Although i dont have that person to speak to like you do. Although - i've been thinkin of using the usa standard system meet xml structure and implement this as a british system.

do you have the site up and running as yet?

There is also likely to be data protections issues that would need to be looked into, also need to find a way of giving a 99% match on names otherwise you ended with loads of duplicate swimmers in the system. I’m currently working on a more basic approach with someone that has been involved in the sport in high places for a very long time and with the information he knows we should hopeful have a fully integrated and automated system.

CTS and Omega wouldn't be interested anyway and there is already a site that includes results and rankings from Europe http://www.swimrankings.net. There is currently no standard system in use in the country to import results into an external system.
