Thumbs up 2Swim4Life - Sign Up Officially!!!

2Swim4Life - 4th Oct '08 - Sign Up Officially

We need firm numbers of participants in order to plan food, drink and support arrangements. We may also need to contact you with reference to the challenge. To that end please pass on your: Full name, Club Details and Contact details to LAZy (Lesley) or myself asap. Fear not, we’re not going to pass on these details to anyone else.

Also in order to gain additional status for the event, we’d like to put out press releases including a short pen portrait on any /all of you who have done something you don’t mind sharing: eg – swum channel/ competed in National events/ been part of the team that.../ achieved placings in County / National /inter-national events/competed in Worlds or European events/ done any other sporting achievements not necessarily swimming - even if it was 30+ years ago! It might even be that you just want to challenge yourself!

If you would include this information, it could raise the profile of the whole event.

For Example:
Stewart Rush. I don’t belong to a club or swim competitively (yet!) I swim to keep fit and for some daft reason swam 10 miles for charity this year. Contactable up to 2200hrs on 01730 266117.

Again, would you pm all this information to ‘LAZy’ (Lesley) asap. She’ll also be at the British at Manchester 20-22 June – if anyone wants further clarification on any points, just tap her on the shoulder (look out for the Bob Dylan surname!)

Cheers

Stewart

PS...Can any Mods make this a sticky...Please
PPS...If you need to read up on the Challenge and have a spare week check this out: http://www.swimclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=10005

I'm already in for the 12 x 12. Hope I'm not doing an all nighter on my own. That's not much fun. Where are you MJC? Anybody else?

I'm afraid that I'm 'bottling out'! I did tell KatieBun that I was up for the 12x12, probably on breaststroke, but the recurrence of an old hip problem....exacerbated by the walking involved with daughter's new sport, makes it impossible to do the required training.

However, I am very keen to be of assistance and will sponsor those who are swimming. I will most certainly put in an appearance and cheer on those taking part.....being an insomniac, I'll be there through the night too.

You go MJC. I think you all need to leave your ego's at home for this one. Dont try to keep up with anybody and get dragged into anearobic swimming for a seconds. Easy does it.

Unfortunatly i am on holiday in canada on a cruise from 23rd sept, till 7th october so there goes your eye candy for the day

Stewpot / LAZy - i'm really unsure about this, i'd love to do it but really not sure if I can manage it - I very reary do more than 1500m in a single training session, and to do 1800m every hour might honestly be beyond me. Maybe I'll try to do a bit more yardage in training lunchtime today and see how I feel......
Also - All my training in geared around 50 free/fly and the swim is right in the middle of the competition season so I won't train for any long distance leading up to it at all and I guess it's the sort of thing you really need to train for......

(Excuses excuses I know, but at almost 51, not really sure if this is the sort of thing I should be attempting as i'm totally not used to long distance swimming at all, even swimming slowley I just can't keep going much more than a minute) - However I will come along to watch for a little while I happy to give some money to the charity.

.... I feel really bad, so no stick please chaps.
