Under water cameras

I have been asked by our treasure to find out what clubs use what camera kits as we are looking to invest in one (we are a pretty small club)

So thought were would be better to ask then here

So yes, fire away please

Are your club wanting to shoot video or take still shots? If the latter I could point you in the right direction as I've got a collection of waterproof digital and film cameras all of which I use in differing environments.

When our coach started looking at them, SharkEYE was something he mentioned and had previous experience of using

Whether he'd look at something different now, I don't know (this was a couple of years ago).

Itll be video, thanks for your feedback, sharkEYE is the one I originally found and have used in another club (and will be the one we probably end up getting) but thought always worth an ask around first

I have a Samsung WP10, a still camera that can take HD (720p) video. I paid £51 for it, and that's about what it's worth. It's an option if your club is extremely cash-strapped, otherwise I'd advise something better.

I asked on another forum when looking at cameras, and I was advised not to worry too much about zoom as it's difficult to use underwater, apart from the zoom that you get from moving closer to something. If I'd decided to spend more money on a camera, I'd have gone for the Sony DSCTX10, for which there are some impressive looking underwater sample movies on youtube and around the net.

At the time I was looking, I was considering either a video camera with stills, or a still camera with movie function. I ended up not looking at video cameras, as they didn't seem to have that much better video than I could get from the still cameras, and the stills were much worse. Video cameras typically had much larger amounts of optical zoom, but I decided that I didn't really need it.

But, if you want the live playback you get from the sharkeye system, then that's an entirely different gizmo.
