Fairway Buoy swim at Exmouth - almost five miles, non-wetsuit.

http://www.rlss-poole.org.uk/brownsea2.htm

Brownsea Island Swim entries now open - get in quick if you want to do it,it filled up in a couple of weeks last year if my memory serves.

6.5k around the island, good water temperature, lovely area, very well organised swim and you plot your own course - this is my favourite open water event.

Gutted I can't do these, away on holiday for both, they are so much better than the corporate, mass start, multi-wave events.

Have entered Brownsea again. Loved it last year. Just entered the Dart 10k again, too. Fabulous day out! I'm not sure I'm up to that long in the sea so early in the year for the Fairways Buoy. I'm too slow!

I have entered the Dart 10k. Wasnt going to do any serious distance but it has stops and is tidal so not too much of an ask, a friend did it in 2 hours last year.

For something a bit different, there is always the River Hamble Games http://www.riverhamblegames.com/ this is a multi-sport event being organised on and around the River Hamble. There is an opportunity to swim 500 or 1500m open water which can be coupled with a 10k run to make a biathlon. Competitors can enter as a team of up to 40 odd or will be allocated to teams to make up numbers - there are a maximum of 4 swimmers per team.
There will also be a bit of a party afterwards around the prizegiving...

I am very tempted to enter this event myself. Is anyone else from SwimClub doing so?

I've entered the BLDSA Champion of Champions on 16th June in Dover Harbour. Should be "fun"!

Is anyone else coming out to play?

I'm going to be there that weekend, Matron, but I don't think I'm fit enough to do the whole event! I suppose I could do the 3 and the 1. I certainly don't have time to train enough to do 9 miles, having been out injured for so many weeks.

Here's a bit of excitement. Have just been chatting with Rob from Cornwall Festival of Sport. Here's the route for the 10k swim in September. Wetsuits are optional for all the swims. Bravo, Festival of Sport, for treating us like adults and allowing us to make our own decisions. 3k is a wide swim around the mount.

Wales to Ireland Swim, September 2012

There's only one place in the swim, but then there is only one Lisa Cummins.

No shallow D-list celebs, no wetsuits, just our heroine Lisa.
