My father-in-law and sister both got some in the ballot, so it was possible (which is not to say it was well handled)
There may be some more to come in the final sale in May sometime. (At least I'm hoping so!) |

Although I appreciate the angst of individual relatives of athletes, I now think that some of the athletes are now expecting too much.
Is Chris Hoy sure he wouldn't like the whole of the extended Hoy Clan at the velodrome? Perhaps they could name one end the Hoy Stand. Does Stephanie Rice think every athlete ought to be given tickets to every possible combination of events. How would they cope with 2 tickets for every combination of multiple relay teams from 8 or 10 teams whose qualification is only confirmed in the morning heats. Can you imagine the chaos of black market tickets if every athlete had an allocation. Ironically, the recent protagonists are ones that could easily afford a hundred tickets on the back of their sponsorship deals - STOP MOANING AND GET YOUR WALLET MR HOY. |

I do think there was some shortchanging of the foreign national federations/athlete allocation. The quota for athletes is 900 swimmers. Allocate two all-sessions tickets per swimmer, so we're at 1800 seats reserved for the foreign federations, so a little more than 10% of seats at a venue designed for 17,500 for the Games. Add in athlete and coach/officials seating, and you're likely still under 4,000 people, leaving more than 75% of the seats for general public and sponsor allocation.
As for athlete allocation and ticket-swapping, I'd bet that 90% of those tickets would stay 'in the tribe' to try to give a chance for the athlete's whole family to see their events- parents, step-parents who also did the 4:30am practice drive, siblings, and the athlete's own kids can soak up a lot of spots. (I think Josh Davis was already at three kids by Sydney).

Well what a horribly painful experience that was. After many clicks selecting just about every session and every price option I have managed 1 ticket (going to be great fun going on my own!) for £295 at an evening session! Of course, having bought a single ticket in the pre-sale window that's my transaction used up!

I have to say the "only show sessions with availability" option was about as much use as a chocolate teapot, but I did manage on the third attempt (all done by 11:08) to get a pair of tickets for the first day's finals, so well chuffed. Or at least significantly more chuffed than the bank manager will be...

Just managed to get 2 senior tickets for the Olympic Park on the Saturday at a cost of £10 plus delivery of £6...chuffed to bits then BANG...I now see that the tickets are only for between 10.30am until 4pm so I will not be able to watch him on the big screen if he gets in the semi-finals...I will be inside the pool for his heats all being well but I will have to find somewhere else to watch the semi's...maybe Procter & Gamble will be able to help me out...not holding my breath!!!

Are the 'Cow' taking bookings, there is a great table on the first floor next to the huge flat screen you would be able to enjoy a good view from there and the beer is reasonable too

Is the park open for visitors tours prior to the games?
I didn't know we could buy tickets for the park entrance during the Olympics! Are they still available?
