Regional QTs for 2012
I found myself prematurely celebrating at the weekend thinking that my daughter had achieved her first SER QT only to realise minutes later that I was looking at the boys QT instead.
But what I couldn't understand was the disparity between the 2 QTs - the 11yr Boys 200 Breast Auto QT is 3.19.00 but the Girls Auto QT is 3.15.70!! And yet the Boys 100 Breast Auto is 1.31.00 and the Girls Auto is 1.31.40. So why the huge difference on the 200? In fact when you compare all the 11yr old QTs the girls have slower QTs in 5 events, the same in 1 event and only MARGINALLY faster in 4 events. I think I struggle to understand it more because the Girls have a slower 100 Breast QT but a much faster 200 Breast time. And then when you look at a 12yr the QT for 200 Breast for Boys and Girls is almost identical. Is there a reason for this or could this just be an error? |

I think it a direct result of dynamic QT's.
AFAIN South East QT's are based off last year entries and a fudge factor to achieve the correct number of entrants in each event. This means the times are a direct indication of what kids at their current development age are swimming. Makes interesting reading though
