I want to swim my individual events for the team I train with. That way my races are credited to the coach who is on poolside for me during training. This is more important to me if I break an individual record at the meet.

I may want to swim a relay too. This rule lets me do that without having my individual swims, maybe even records, credited to another team. It doesn't mean I want to set records in the relays - just that I want to swim them. I may choose to swim with some friends, who happen to swim for other teams, just so we can swim a relay together.

Precisely Manic, it is not all about the Superclubs, in an earlier post Alan kindly set out the statistics showing the dominance of a few teams, in fact the change of condition may encourage a wider spread of teams as local clubs could combine. As I said earlier let's see how it goes.

So you are going to use one "for" posting to justify a rule change that 99.9% of other respondents have said no too?

I have a lot of time for M-P, a fine swimmer and someone who talks a lot of sense too. But I fear she is the exception to the rule rather than the rule.

OK its fair to say its not 100% about the superclubs, but everyone knows IT REALLY IS all about the superclubs and as A1 Superclub Member, dear Leader, you would know best what suits the superclubs.

Just for once, please take a step back from "me me me my mates and me" and put it to a consultation for the many rather than the Committee. Once you do that then you can move forward with a mandate. It wont matter to those you meet on the podium, but how about asking those who were elbowed out of a medal at the Nationals by a team who didnt even know each other?

I'm with Leppy on this one...surprise surprise.

I have been one of those teams elbowed off the podium by a SuperClub on a few occasions.

I remember a "Member" of Hadrian Masters at nationals gloating as to how he had to travel from Norway to swim the event. I retorted by saying at least I knew what the round was in the pub. His answer was that he didn't drink. I just said "How sad!!"

I can see were Manic P is coming from as well. However does her coach actually get any kudos from her breaking an individual record. I think not. It's just down to her hard work. Most Masters Swimmers know what to do in training a coach is just there to give a little motivation which is not necessary in a lot of cases. She may as well swim for the Club that wants her in the relay team.

Leppy, your analysis of the posts is misleading, a little less hysteria and a more careful consideration of the responses on here shows that 5 posters were in favour, of the rule change. That's significantly more than .01%.

Not sure it's a 'great debate', it's very one sided (quite rightly so imo).

I'm sure they do take it very seriously, I image it's a massive part of their lives. I'm actually surprised how restrained some are, I think I'd have been banned from here by now if I were a Master swimmer.

I received 20+ email responses on this subject from Masters.

I have forwarded to ASA Masters Technical committee for them to consider.

I would say the majority of the emails are against the proposed changes
