Festive dips- please add yours

Sunderland Boxing Day Dip
http://www.sunderlandevents.co.uk/ev...p?EventID=3507
Run by the Lions club, but I think you can chose your own charity to be sponsored for.
entry form: http://editorial.jpress.co.uk/579585...try%20form.pdf

South Shields Boxing Day Dip
organised by and fundraising for St Clare's Hospice.
http://stclareshospice.com/events/boxing-day-dip.html

Both the above are mainly just a get in and get wet event (possibly with the help of a fire hose!)

City of Liverpool open water section always used to have a Boxing Day 50 metre swim in Salthouse Dock, part of the Albert Dock area.
I have done this and it's fun but cold.

Wildy may know if it's still on

I'm hoping that the Triathlon organised swim at King Lear's Lake on New Year's Day will be on again this year, and that we'll get some ice cover as happened last year.

You don't need permission to swim in the sea so I can't see that the fire crew has any authority to stop you. As you say, best have your own private "event

Just had email from Robin:

Quote:
Hi Pete,

Boxing Day Dip, 10.30 registration (£5.00) to cover costs, 10.45 Safety briefing, 11.00 Dip.

Certificate presentation at The Liverpool a public house in James St oppisite the Dock.

If you want to raise sponsorship for a charity, please think about www.liverpoolheartbeat.com which is in honour of fellow swimmer and friend Ken O'toole.

Kind regards

Rob

At the risk of being accused of spamming, I would rather keep private any details of any "festive dips" I take part in - just look for a big grin on my face.

(It's ok, I've got my coat already.)

Christmas Day at Felixstowe on the beach at Cobbold's Point - organised by St Elizabeth's Hospice. (It's usually a minimum £5 or £10 donation, but many folks raise more)
