I believe there is a plan to build a new one at the Spytty Park sports complex - home of Newport County, one of the loves of my life - but it will take a year or two. (The thing going up currently is the national velodrome.)
This is into Cardiff really and maybe out of range, but if you go about a mile past St Mellons on the old main road between the two cities, there's a leisure centre with a pool at Rumney, among playing fields on the right hand side. No idea what it's like, but my Mum has been there with a pensioner group so I suppose it can't be too bad. |
