swim

is training 5 mornings ( 1 hour per ses) and three nights (2 hour per ses) to much for a swimmers at district level age 12/13/14 ?

no i dont think so, we have quite a few swimmers in our club at that age and younger who do the same or more. However, i think it does depend on what intensity the training is at.

I read somewhere in an artical that doing this much training isnt bad for young swimemrs as long as its the right type ie. predominantly aerobic. I think too much sprint/strength/power training may be more likely to lead to overtraining, but aerobic builds fitness until they are developed enough to cope with other types of training...someone shout at me if i'm wrong but I'm sure i read it on a swimming coach site or something
