goggles or lenses?
hey ya i need prescription goggles for swimming now. I need some help as to which pairs are good and I like the sound of two pairs which are the speedo menace and the sonia prescription goggles (these are very expensive though!)
I do also have contacts which I could wear but this could be rather expensive as I do train 8-10 times a week! so they would cost a lot and run out rather quickly, too quickly in fact, so could someone please help me and point me in the right direction.. Thanks RACH

First off you will need a current optical prescription from your friendly optician. Then you'll need to understand what your prescription is. On the UK NHS Prescription statement there are five columns for each eye: Sph, Cyl, Axis, Prism and Base. If you have anything in the last four columns, your prescription is not "Spherical" and the chances are you'll need to look for custom prescription goggles. If you're lucky enough to have entries only in the first column "Sph", you'll probably be able to use the ready made prescription goggles. I put together a simple guide to understanding your optical prescription on my company website which might also be of use. |

well, I can report that I no longer approve of Speedo Speed Sockets, bloody things came off completely in the 50M Breast at the Nationals.
The clip thingy at the back doesn't hold the elastic properly, so after a long hold on the start they were already coming undone |
