Exclamation National Speedo League

Are there any representatives from the clubs in the NER?

Do you think your club would be interested in forming a league for next season?

Sheffield, Leeds, Hull, York, Doncaster, Kirklees, Harrogate, Wakefield, Barnsley? Where are you all?

Surely there are enough clubs in the region to form a league? Perhaps some clubs may wish to enter A and B teams as previously done??

COME ON NORTH EAST....LET'S PUT SOME OF OUR CLUBS BACK IN THE NATIONAL FINALS!

City of Bradford and City of Wakefield have no connection with City of Leeds.
It is not a case of not enough clubs just that not enough clubs are prepared to swim THREE rounds to qualify for the Cup Final.

why arent they prepared to swim three rounds? could there not be one round, held at either Ponds Forge or the John Charles Centre (New Leeds Pool)??

Maybe it's the cost involved in travelling around the county (or north east) only to see city of Leeds A B and C come 1 2 3 every year!

don't you think City of Sheffield would be a contender? they have some good senior swimmers at the minute!

also, BOK have some excellent youngsters!!

Look at the history of the league...Leeds have been such a dominant force for so many years, and Sheffield have also been very close! why have they been excluded? why should the likes of Sheffield and Leeds (the premier clubs in the North East) have to travel to other regions to participate?

I don't think they should allowed to travel to other regions basically because they are so strong as you say that some other teams are going to miss out.

We need a good NER to make speedo a true national competitioon but it's up to the NER teams to sort out I think.

Speado Leagues

Its about time the NER restarted speado leagues and not just for the top clubs but also for the others so that they can compete in good league and work their way up through divisions. If you look at speado south they have a good set up. Why can we not emulate them.

You got that just right - 'more people' - that is the problem - more people are not interested in getting it sorted.

For many years they only swam one round in the North East, albeit there were two divisions. However the Speedo League has decreed (or so we are told!!) that they must swim three rounds, and also I understand, there must be at least 15 teams.

Presumably if the North East meets this criteria they (the Speedo League) will think of something else!!

You seem to be suggesting that the Speedo league are deliberately trying to exclude the North east clubs. Why would they do that? - i would think that the Speedo league would very much welcome the retun of those clubs and it's not like City of Leeds would necessarily win the thing; there are several clubs each year who have very srong teams as far as i can see.

It seems to me to be perfecty fair that the North East clubs should be subject to the same rules as everyone else if they are going to compete in a league. Yes the competition calendar is busy already but i don't imagine it is any busier in the North east than in other parts of the country
