Good split in the 400, guessing you were tired by the time the 200 came around.

First pool set in about 8 months, at least involving lanes and not a polo ball.
Was around 1700m, involved a lot of something called SFK - maybe not the acronym I'd have for it. Knee hurt like hell so maybe I wont feature in the 50 br at Sheffield. After about 1200m I forgot I was in a pool and banged head on wall during some SPK (I think) - aka backstroke kicking. It can only get better, as the song goes.

I don't tend to post too many sessions, but this one was interesting.
Warm up (Keep swimming until I tell you to stop said coach) Managed 800 some did rather more. Main set. 3 x ( 50 flat out, change lane for 400 steady, 2 mins rest) Sprints from blocks and timed. 3 x 75 swim down Total only 2375 in a hour. My 3 50's were all within a second of seasons best and the first on only 0.4 slower than my weekend meet at Millfield.

Did 25k last night, all over London and I was not under the influence. Starting at 10:30pm and finished at 5:30am. Lots to see and too many stopping places for my liking.

any suggestions for gym training not using my arms!
I cant run as this moves my arm...would exercise bike or leg exercises help with kick?

When I was out of action arm-wise, I did a lot of exercise bike, stair master and cross trainer (without the arm bits). I also did leg exercises with weights. Whether or not it helped my kick I don't know, but my legs did get stronger, and I find the gym so boring, I was desperate to get back in the water, which meant I didn't whinge about the sets for, ooooh, at least a week.

Did a session yesterday in the pool by myself, as part of my preperation for the 400M coming up in a few weeks. Did a 300m warm up, then main set, 5 x IM, swam as 1 x 800m off 16 mins, 2 x 2 400m swam off 8 mins, and 2 x 2
200M off 4 mins. My times were: 800m IM in 14.00, 2 x 400m IM in 6.59 and 6.57, and 2 x 200m IM in 3.26 and 3.22, then 200m warm down, total time was 60 mins, total distance was 2500m. Was happy with my times for the 2 x 400m fly given I had just swam an 800IM before that, think I may be able to puch the 400m IM at the gala now, if I can keep this training up for the next few weeks... |
